rPET – felt from bottles

Petfelt panels are produced from rPET polyester fabric, made of rubbish that pollutes the Earth – PET bottles.

The bottles are collected and then cleaned. Finally, they are processed into PET flakes. This process takes place in the firm IMP Polowat (Industrie Maurizio Peruzzo group), which has its head office in Bielsko-Biała, 200 metres from Marbet.

PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) is a type of plastic. As long as it is not mixed with other materials, it can be recycled many times. In high temperatures, PET becomes liquid and can be easily shaped, helped by the fact that it quickly hardens.

PET flakes are used to make polyester fibres, from which polyester fabric is produced – a strong material pleasant to the touch that also has good acoustic parameters. This is used to make Petfelt acoustic panels for the CELL and ECLIPSE collections.

Petfelt acoustic panels are single material products made entirely from polyester fabric, with over 50% of the rPET fibres coming from recycled PET bottles. 100% of the product can be upcycled.
